Biographie

Her mother is from Rolling River First Nation and her father is from Sagkeeng First Nation, Nova is currently for hire for Drama Workshops with Youth, Freelance Graphic Design Art, Visual Artist, Writer, and Indigenous Languages Resource Development.

She brings Indigenous Storytelling to theatre workshops by introducing local oral histories, and incorporates traditional knowledge from local communities to help embody different Indigenous groups traditional knowledge and teachings in providing theatre workshops. Many of her workshops conclude with a performance from the young people.

She holds a part-time position as the Assistant Director at the Native Youth Theatre program, run out of Manitoba Theatre for Young People.

Living Water

What does water mean to you? Explore how the moon and turtles play a significant role in Indigenous cultures, and how clean water is vital to every living creature on earth through game playing, theatre movement exercises and developing short skits to perform. Can include local Indigenous languages in drama warm ups and games.

Embodying the Seven Teachings

Learn more about the history behind the Seven Teachings as provided by the Great Lake Anishinaabe by learning the 7 Teachings through theatre (tableau or writing a sketch). Can include local Indigenous languages in drama warm ups and games. -use voice, body, imagination to become the animals

Traditional Storytelling: Tricksters and Animals

Will use puppets, masks, and movement to explore the stories of tricksters and animals in the context of legends, teachings, personal stories from young people. Sharing performances is an option. Can include local Indigenous languages in drama warm ups and games.
