Biography

Randy Guest has been an independent Filmmaker and Arts Educator for over twenty years. In the film industry Randy has Produced and Directed short films, music videos, promotional videos and documentaries through his company Tooz A Crowd Productions. As an Arts Educator, he teaches students of all ages (K-Grd.12) the organic processes and basic principles of filmmaking. Concepts such as 'frame', 'cheating', crew positions and how to run a film set are taught and then applied to fun, educational and grade/age user friendly exercises. Randy has guided students in the creation of Short Films, Music Videos, School Spirit Videos and Documentaries in schools across Manitoba and would love to do so with your school.

THE LANGUAGE OF THE CAMERA

This residency teaches students the organic process of connecting imagination -to- environment -to- frame. Randy shows students how to take the visuals they imagine and make them filmically come to life. Original ideas are created. These ideas become "scripts" or scenes. Students then cheat their environment to become any location they wish it to be and create magic with the camera. Randy will sometimes collaborate with Artist Leigh-Anne Kehler to create original ideas and concepts.

SCHOOL SPIRIT VIDEO

Randy can teach students the template of promotional video and then guide students to create their own school spirit video. These videos can be used as part of assemblies, events, celebrations, anniversaries or connect to curriculum or community spirit.

SCHOOL MUSIC VIDEO

Randy can teach students the template of professional music video creation and then guide the students to create their own music video. These videos may be connected to their school song, curriculum, events, celebrations, anniversaries or to visuals the students create as part of their own original music video.
