Biography

Cat Hues also known as Pink Panda (they/she) is a painter from Winnipeg. They aspire to create visual works that encourage one to explore the emotions and experiences of thought and feeling that arise in the present moment. Through the use of vibrant colourscapes and intricate line work, Pink Panda hopes to connect us all through their art.

They enjoy working with chalk, acrylics, spray paint and UV reactive paints on a variety of surfaces.
During the summer, their chalk drawings can be found around the city or you may find them performing live painting “pop-up” installations. The leaving of temporary art is something significant to Pink Panda as it helps keep their mantra “Be in the moment” in focus and practice letting go.

They have facilitated as a guest artist at schools, organizations, events and summer camps and have worked with kids and youth of all ages.

Skate Deck Painting Workshop

Students will learn to use different mediums to create their own pieces as well as the process of brainstorming, sketching, transferring and painting their final artwork onto their skate deck.

Mixed Media Mural Painting

Cat Guides students on how to plan, transfer and paint a mural using water based spray paint and acrylics.

Testimonials

“ Pink Panda was a guest at my art camp for kids for the last two summers. I could not be happier having Cat join us! They totally inspired the campers with their incredible art, and created an amazing workshop for kids ages 4-12! Cat brought a unique project for each group in an inclusive, approachable, fun way that my students still talk about months later. Thank you Pink Panda!”

—Jill McGillivray, Artist and Art Educator

I highly recommend this artist as they are an ideal candidate for the educational environment. Cat is professional, punctual, well organized and has the skillset for any artistic project to succeed. Over the course of a few weeks, we saw some of our most challenging students take on leadership roles within the project and further develop their artistic skills, while being supported by a kind-hearted mentor.

—Sabrina Gagnon-Hiebert, Grade 3 educator, École Arthur Meighen, Portage la Prairie

Cat was so organized and paid attention to the details to make the grant successful. When they joined Faraday to work with our students and staff, Cat put students' choice and voice at the centre ensuring the process to design the product was authentic and meaningful to our school, community and themselves. Cat has a gentle way about them that made all of us feel seen and valued. Cat was a pleasure to have worked with, and we have referred them to many of our colleagues.
