Biography

Peatr Thomas is an Ininew and Anishinaabe self-taught visual artist from the Pimicikamak and Miskwewe Ziibi territories in North-Central Manitoba. He was raised on reserve and later introduced to city life in the early 2000s. After graduating high school in 2005, he spent the next 10 years working in carpentry. Over the last decade, he has worked full-time as an artist, blending street art with cultural and traditional teachings in his work. Along with visual art, Peatr also creates wood sculptures, digital art, videography, and facilitates youth workshops to share the skills he’s learned and the stories behind his work, with projects spanning coast to coast and overseas.”

Youth Mural - Ages-16-18 in Ouji-Bougoumou, QC.

5 day program where the students and I brainstorm the ideas based on local stories and traditions. I instruct them on how to scale up and paint the entire mural themselves with some additional assistance. We used non-toxic water-based spray paint and stencils the students have made.

2023-Gordon-Bell-Highschool-scaled

a Three day program with a concept in mind and the students added elements to further the story. This mural was done with acrylic paints.

2026 Mistissini, QC. Youth-age-14-17

One day program where we quickly discussed what they would like to see and I outline the animals and the youth filled in the colours. This was done with stencils I have pre-made and water based spray paint.
