
Biography
Daisy Wu is a photo-based artist from Nantong, China, currently based in Winnipeg, Canada, on Treaty 1 Territory. She graduated from the University of Manitoba’s School of Art in 2023, where she awarded an Undergraduate Research Award. In 2024, Wu participated in an Early Career Banff Residency at the Banff Centre of Arts and Creativity. Her work has recently been exhibited at MAWA and aceartInc as part of the FLASH photographic festival. Wu’s practice explores themes of family, belonging, and immigration through photography, installation, and video.

Project Samples
Light Traces: alternative photography processes
Light Traces is an art project that introduces students to explore photography without a camera. They will use light, plants, and imagination to create images. Students will create lumen, chlorophyll printing, cyanotype, and other botanical based photo works using leaves, flowers, and sunlight. This hands on program connects art, science, and the environment, inviting students to experiment with natural materials while learning about image making, observation, and sustainability.
Through the Lens: film photography
Through the Lens is an introduction to traditional film photography. This project designed to teach students the foundational techniques of photography through learning analogue image making. This hands on project will guide students through the process of learning various format film cameras. Students will learn eco-friendly black and white film develop process from start to finish. They will explore colour film of its image taking and learn basics about processes.
This project encourages students to slow down, observe, and understand the photographic process from start to finish. They will explore themes like storytelling through the lens of their own experiences and environments.
