Music has been integral to my personal life, my volunteer activities, and public and professional performances. Of specific interest has been my work with children and music for children. Children are more open to being creative with musical composition and often greet song writing with great enthusiasm. Encouraging children of all ages to contribute to their world with their own musical creativity has become a passion of mine, both for their own self confidence with music and the benefit to those around. I am involved locally with many community music events, playing and singing for weddings and funerals, involved in choirs, fundraisers, etc.
2020, through Artist in the School, I began a three year grant to work with Hapnot Collegiate students with a project entitled The Northern Experience: Through Creative Songwriting and Visual Arts.
2015-2020, through ArtSmart grant, Hapnot Collegiate with band teacher, Kim Jones 2015-2020, Performances in Flin Flon Elementary Schools

Goal: to recreate and arrange a song by ear, in group of peers. (the opportunity to choose a pop song and recreate it by ear without sheet music or chord charts)

Faith Krahn has worked with my Grades 9-12 music students on a variety of projects over the past five years. Our Artist in the School projects have become a highlight of our year because we can work with Faith and gain from her years of experience with songwriting.
