Shadow puppets

Play with light and shadow. This program plays with surprise and imagination. Students will create shadow puppets out of found objects, paper, and themselves! Sound effects and creation will be employed to heighten the world that students will create for themselves and eachother.

Crankie making

Students will work together and in groups to make a moving panorama. These "scrolling books" can be used for storytelling, or just free form images that can evoke many things. They will employ the use of surprise, timing, and different materials to create something truly unique. Individual - Each student can make their own crankie scroll. Group - Students help each other present their crankie scrolls by providing sound effects, music accompaniment or added puppetry.

Lantern puppets

Students will be introduced to creating lanterns in different shapes. Using reed, muslin, and glue, along with LED lights, these "puppets" can be used with different performance styles like mask work, dance, and storytelling ...in the dark!
